Order Firewood. Stack it now so it can dry out during summer months.

Throw a yard sale. It’s the perfect weather to bring out the people to buy your things.

Stock your freezer. A full freezer uses less energy. Consider keeping extra ice cream on hand.

Mend and paint your fences. Fix any big chips in the paint from last winter’s storms.

Shop Farmers’ markets. It’s that time of year when local fresh produce is available at weekly open markets. Enjoy! And, just in time, June 16 is Enjoy Your Veggies day so go taste some fresh flavor.

Check the air. The heat is soon to settle in. Check air-conditioning filters and vents. Make sure the systems work before you put them to use.

Hang a hammock. Nothing says summer like a nap in the shade lying in a hammock.

Weed. It’s growing season. When you are done weeding, mulch heavily to prevent more weeds from growing.

Celebrate Dad. Father’s Day is June 17.

Take a look at your gutters. Replace broken downspouts and cracked gutters.

Get ready to camp. Organize all your camping gear. Make sure you have no missing supplies to your tent!

Make homemade ice cream. What better time than when the weather is warm.

Eat some ice cream and cool down on a hot summer day. It’s also National Dairy Month. What a great way to celebrate.

Put out your flags. Flag day is June 14. Celebrate by flying a little red, white, and blue.

Nurture your flowers. Pinch chrysanthemums. Add new, colorful annuals to your hanging baskets. Fertilize roses. Deadhead spring-blooming perennials such as irises, roses, tulips, and daffodils.

Get down for summer. Been planning new patio pavers or landscape walkways? Lay them now to be ready for a big July 4th bash and before the heat of summer really sets in.

Shade for energy savings. Battle summer heat and direct sunrays. Check out window shades, both interior and exterior. Look into awnings; add a pergola to your patio. Plant a strategically-placed tree for summer shade; make it deciduous if you want winter light.

Clean
your chimney. Avoid the autumn rush. Call in the chimney sweep for a
cleaning and safety evaluation now.
