The perfect hamburger patty is a tricky thing. Forming that perfectly round shape, achieving that unvarying thickness and using just the right amount of meat can be all but impossible, especially when you’re making half a dozen or more. Enter the hamburger patty press.
“People ask for them all the time,” says Gayle Stevens, owner of Kitchen Treasures in Reno. “It’s one of our regularly stocked items.”
This ingenious little gadget molds perfect patties every time, identical in size, shape, and thickness. And those perfect patties are guaranteed to turn into perfect burgers because when they’re exactly the same, they cook to the same level of doneness, all at the same time. That means no more oversized, undercooked burgers or patties that fall apart when you flip them.
Another bonus? “It’s great if you don’t like using your hands,” says Stevens. “You just put a dollop of meat in there, press down, and you’re done.”
You can find hamburger presses made of aluminum, stainless steel, or acrylic. Some feature handles and nonstick finishes, and you can also find dishwasher-safe versions. Look for them at just about any kitchen supply store.
