Throughout the year, gifts are exchanged for all sorts of life events, and sometimes simply because. As the holidays approach, it’s fair to expect that more attention is placed on gifting, and therefore wrapping follows suit. Here are some ideas for how to make the presentation of your present one-of-a-kind and worthy of the thought behind it.
Consider re-using materials available around the house; for example, those black and white newspaper text pages. How about some interesting and colorful magazine tears taped together, or the inside of paper shopping bags? Any of these can look truly elegant when paired with layers of vibrant or metallic ribbons and would make anyone appreciate receiving your savvy and sassy surprise.
As always, think layering. If the box or packaging is non-descript, simply wrap it in translucent vellum paper and again, have fun with bows, twine, or fabric strips. Consider picking up a roll of brown paper at any craft store and adding a few clusters of stamped color or shapes. Or perhaps in your own elegant handwriting, incorporate applicable words in the corner of your package to offset and complement your bow.
Stick with second use materials as much as possible, and consider ways to add color or texture with fabric embellishments or colorful stamping, text, or paper cutouts in interesting compositions. It’s often fun to establish a theme for all your gifts; that way, all the materials are complementary and a personal gifting style is yours for the season! Happy Holidays!!!
